Spanish Water Sports Camps for kids in Spain
FAQs for Parents |
|
We understand that it is difficult to plan everything to study abroad and more when we have to choose a Summer Camp Program in other country for our children. Here we try to answer the most common questions from the parents. If you cannot find the answer to your question below, then please don't hesitate to contact us by e-mail or phone. We look forward to hearing from you!
Water Sports Summer Camp is in a safe area? Are campers supervised?
Absolutely! Your child's safety is our first priority. The Sea School for the Water Sports Summer Camps is near Alicante in a very quiet and safe area.
If youth students live in a host family, except the first day when they are accompanied to the Sea school, they have to go alone from the family to the Nautical Club.
Junior Programmes have a moderate level of supervision and the students will be expected to act mature and responsibly as, although they are accompanied at least the first day, they will NOT be constantly supervised (walking to the Spanish language School, going to the Sea School, shopping…). The distance from Alicante city centre to the Sea School is covered by public transport and lasts approximately 10 minutes.
Teens have to participate in all the scheduled on-campus and off-campus activities and in all the activities are adults with them.
Only students with 16 or 17 years old can go out of the host family alone if you send us a Signed Consent.
Can parents join the Water Sports Summer Camps?
Sailing Camp and Windsurfing Camp are designed for teenagers and parents are not encouraged to participate. For parents who want to visit Spain while their children are in the summer camp, we can suggest different hotels and activities or we can arrange necessary lodging and activities for them to enjoy their stay for a fee. They also can attend a Spanish course for adults. Please feel free to enquire for further information.
How is the weather in July and August in Alicante?
Alicante in Costa Blanca area enjoys over 2,800 hours of sunshine throughout the year, with an average annual temperature of about 19.3ºC, giving its microclimate ideal characteristics for living in Alicante and Costa Blanca region all year round.
The numerous clear, sunny days make the province of Alicante an excellent place for leisure and sailing or windsurfing holidays, because it is possible to enjoy the fresh air every day of the year.
The Alicante Weather is well known for a very mild climate amongst the cities at the Costa Blanca. Covered in the north by small hills and further north by rather high mountains (about 1600 m high), the area keeps the Alicante weather in a kind of microclimate. This limits the rain days per year to just about 20 per year. The average temperature even in winter time does not fall below 16° C.

What meals are provided?
Regarding the meals, participants at the Windsurfing or Sailing Camp will have full board:
— Breakfast: Breakfast in Spain usually consists of juice or yogurt, hot chocolate, tea or coffee with milk, bread or biscuits, butter and jam or cereals.
— Lunch: During the week, from Monday to Friday students receive usually a packed lunch with two sandwiches (“bocadillos”), fruit and drink, thus students can enjoy the beach or the swimming pool in the Sea school or they can return home for having lunch with the family. On Saturday or Sunday (depending on the excursion planned for the weekend) lunch time in Spain is between 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. and it is the biggest meal during the day and it is usually the meeting the whole family.
— Dinner is around 21:00 or 21:30 during the week and there is not a fixed time during the weekends.
— Special requirements: students with special dietary requirements should make a note in the enrolment. All junior students will receive a “Meal list” to choose their favorite dishes as a suggestion for the host family.
Meals are healthy and abundant and thus we do not think it would be necessary to buy more food, but if one student thinks that it is "impossible to survive without "?"", we recommend him to bring it.
